To improve the quality of life of paralyzed veterans and other adults and children living with a disability by developing equal opportunities in sports and recreation, especially those activities that enhance lifetime health and fitness.

Fitness Center Personal Fitness & Weight Training
  • For youth or adults with physical or developmental disabilities
  • Variety of adaptive equipment
  • Improve strength, endurance, flexibility & cardiovascular health
  • Sessions available Monday-Friday 10am - 6pm
Adapted Martial Arts & Self-Defense
  • For youth or adults with physical or developmental disabilities
  • Specialized curriculum teaches martial arts skills & techniques
  • Promotes personal traits such as respect & integrity
  • Builds self-esteem and an added level of personal security
  • Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced sessions meet weekly

  • For youth or adults who use power wheelchairs
  • Wheelchair guards provided
  • Learn wheelchair maneuvering skills & techniques
  • Builds team sportsmanship and negotiating skills

  • Promotes teamwork and strategic planning

Fishing & Outdoor Sports
  • PVA Member fishing tournament annually in September
  • Annual participation in the PVA Midwest Bass Fishing Tournament
  • Opportunities to participate in local hunting & shooting events

Sled Hockey Clinics
  • For anyone (youth and adults) who is interested in trying out this sport
  • Introduces the rules and techniques of sled hockey
  • Held at the FirsTier Events Center in Kearney Nebraska

Wheel Chair Sports Camps Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camps
  • Introduces a variety of sports & recreational activities
  • Encourages campers to discover their full range of abilities
  • Promotes confidence and fosters friendships
  • Youth volunteers team up with campers in a safe, fun environment
  • One day camp held twice a year at the PVA
Arctic Adventure Camp
  • For youth and young adults with developmental disabilities
  • Introduces a variety of sports & recreational activities
  • Promotes confidence and fosters friendships
  • Youth volunteers “buddy up” with campers for the day
  • Camp is held annually in December at the PVA
Artic Adventure Camp
Omaha All-Stars BasketBall Omaha All-Stars Basketball
  • Sponsored by Great Plains PVA and the Ollie Webb Center
  • For youth ages 6 to 21 with a variety of developmental disabilities
  • Builds self-confidence, teamwork, and improved physical fitness
  • Leagues are 7 to 8 weeks long and are scheduled twice a year
Youth Summer Luau
  • For youth athletes with physical or developmental disabilities
  • Held annually in conjunction with Omaha's Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp
  • An evening of live DJ music, games & snacks
  • Fosters friendships in a safe & fun environment
  • Parents are invited to stay and join in or enjoy an evening of respite
